This was a stopover really on our way to South America, but South Beach,<\/em> Miami <\/em>has been a revelation, what\"P1030831\" a kitsch-y, vibrant and fun place. The \u2018Art Deco District\u2019 is the area of the iconic hotels but also the place to be seen. Fancy cars of all types cruise Ocean Drive, music blaring and riders posing. The restaurants are noisy and the margaritas are neon and hangover-sized.<\/p>\n

The days are spent by the pools or on the beach. We met up with our friends The Browns, who had just happened to be in the same area for half-term and our boys and their boys spent hours digging in the sand or splashing through the waves in the pale blue Atlantic Ocean<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0 The adults spent a lot of time on a cabanas reading or swimming with the kids \u2013 bliss! Thanks Tony, Linda, Callum & Noah for making these last few days so much fun.<\/p>\n

\n\"P1030891\"Before we left we went \u2018Gator hunting in Everglades <\/em>on an airboat tour and watched them swimming amongst the mangroves, from large adult males of 12ft to smaller 4-5ft juvenille\u2019s who were very inquisitive and swam up next to the boat. Cameron loved the airboat, particularly when our driver did a high speed 180! Ollie is now considering becoming a Park Ranger here in the Everglades instead.<\/p>\n

After 5,300 miles overland and 12 states visited, we are leaving the USA with heavy hearts but really great memories and a list of places to revisit in the future. America, we\u2019ll be back.<\/p>\n
